Education is a lifelong grooming for self, for an open mind.

With the advent of technology, as we move into a boundary-less and interconnected world, the common phrase ‘sky is the limit’ seems a bit of a cliche since the quantum of success has grown manifold. With success comes the attitude towards winning and spirit of achievement; in various fields depending on the child’s capacities and capabilities. The syllabus as such should be enriched by incorporating of facts, a good pedagogy and integrated programmes to create learning experiences and right interpretation of facts. Experiential learning to me is the key to quality education.

Today, classrooms have become centers for collaborative and comprehensive learning that would enhance the growth curve and prepare the students for challenging roles in the future. Therefore, there is a constant need to update and upgrade. We as educators also need to learn, un-learn and re-learn to remain contemporary and fill the need gaps in learning.

Innovation and creativity are like peas in a pod and it is the inquisitive mind that has a hunger to gather more information, create a knowledge pool and use relevant content to experiment, create and innovate. Through project-based learning, students get an opportunity to look at a problem from different perspectives and look for solutions; which prepares them to combat the demands of the different industries/entrepreneurships that eventually children will be required to perform in.

Finally education is all about providing the specialized skills and negotiating tools to the coming generation that can be used constructively for the betterment of mankind.

G.D Goenka Public school is a co-educational school where children are given various opportunities that encourage and stimulate their minds to think differently. Students gain knowledge by not merely becoming storehouses of information for the sake of it, but by actively applying critical thinking strategies and ethics in every aspect of life.

Our primary objective is to develop student’s skill and competencies so that they are prepared to face the unique challenges of the 21st century. Direction is given in varied ways for students to acquire creative thinking, flexible problem solving, collaboration and innovation skills they will need to be successful at work and in life, as local and global citizens.

We are committed to do our best to help our students acquire not just strong fundamentals in literacy and numeracy, but also socio-emotional skills and 21st Century competencies, namely, Critical and Inventive Thinking, Communication, Collaboration and Information Skills, and Civic Literacy, Global Awareness and Cross-Cultural Skills. These competencies would enable our students to navigate the many opportunities and challenges of the future.

In the next few years we would look at ways to imbue our students with a “Joy of learning”, resilience to try and learn new things throughout life. One way would be quality teaching and learning with technology so that students are engaged in Active Learning. Teachers will be guided by Differentiated Instruction as a planning philosophy and cooperative learning as a school-wide pedagogy. Learner information gathered on the go through observations, interactions and use of formative assessment strategies would be used to help teachers make better and informed decisions about teaching and learning.

Looking forward to steering our children for successful innings.
